“The Lord descended in the cloud and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the Lord. The Lord passed before him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin…”
This is our King: MERCIFUL AND GRACIOUS.
This is our Lord: SLOW TO ANGER.
This our God:
STEADFAST LOVE AND FAITHFULNESS.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
The image of our God echoes from the pages of the Old Testament to the dawn of the New Testament. His character never changing or relenting. This is the constant hope that we have in our God: That HE is a God of LOVE.
A LOVE so abounding that HE would give His SON so that we may have the hope of eternal life. Where sin seemingly overtakes us, HIS love abounds. Where shame and guilt holds us down, His love abounds. In the darkest moments of our life, where hope seems lost, God’s love abounds. This is who Jesus is. This is who we look forward to this Advent. The entrance of a King into the world He came to save. Into the world He loves.
