THE PRINCE OF PEACE

ADVENT-14b-01.png

“And the peace of God,
which surpasses all understanding,
will guard your hearts and minds
through Christ Jesus.”
-Philippians 4:7

God had a relentless promise He was destined to fulfill. Through the chaos, through the questions, through the anxieties that covered all the world; He tore through the wildest of boundaries between heaven and earth. There was people He desperately wanted to save, and there was only one way to do it. God came down through a baby
boy named Jesus. That was the name His mother and father gave Him at birth, but He encompassed countless more. He was the Wonderful Counselor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, and the Prince of Peace. And these were more than just names; this was the character of that baby boy. Despite all the fear, worry, and wonder, our Savior was fast asleep, cradled in the loving embrace of His mothers arms. The innocent Child was
an Omnipotent God; He knew what was to come, He knew what pain He would endure, He knew the weight He would bear, but most of all, He knew the unspeakable amount of love He would pour into this world that He knew was so in need of it. God had a throne in heaven; yet He was born in manger. He was the King of all Kings; yet He wore a crown of thorns. It didn’t make any sense, but it didn’t have to. Jesus didn’t attempt to fit the mold
of society because He knew He served a divine purpose. As the Children of God, we have a higher calling over our lives and a home in heaven. We may not know exactly where to go, what to do, and how to do it, but we can trust that the Prince of Peace will be with us every step of the way; breaking through all the limits, defying all normalities, and holding us in His loving embrace through it all.
