“The name of the LORD is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe”

Proverbs 18:10

A refuge, no matter where you come from, is known as a safe place. Often times we seek protection from influences or dangers that can hurt us, and when the Bible portrays God as our refuge, it is saying that He is the protection and safety we seek. He is our fortified tower and we who are made righteous through Jesus Christ run to Him and are safe.

God is our refuge; however, that does not mean He won’t lead us into difficult or dangerous situations. Much like David, it is when we find ourselves in danger that we must seek refuge in Him, and by doing so we can face even the most perilous situations. No matter the circumstance, trial, or tribulation, the safest place we could possibly be is in the center of God’s will.

“‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.’ So we say with confidence, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?’”

Hebrews 13:5–6
