MY ROCK

Psalm 18:

The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer;

my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge,

my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

-A mere song of praise at the time it was composed but eventually becoming a prophecy of WHO was to come, and how he would change the world!-

The one who was to come was to be our rock when we go through trials and pains. Someone we could lean on and know that he would not be shaken. Someone we could build our house upon and know that it would never crumble! Someone that would shield us from the arrows coming from all directions and provide a fortress when our enemies surround us!

 He was to deliver us from our bondages and sin and set us free! A freedom that no one else could offer. A freedom that would allow us to follow him and not be afraid, not despair and not be worried for tomorrow because HE had already taken care of it.

He was to come and be our stronghold, a fortified and never breaking wall between us and the devil who prowls ready to devour anyone in his way. He was the one to be our refuge when times get tough; when we think everything around us has crumbled and fallen when we have no one to call onto except for him!

He was to be the horn of our salvation, the triumph on our lips, the praise in our hearts and souls! Yes he was to be our savior of our souls; the one we would honor and glorify forever and ever because he was victorious! Because he was faithful! Because he is our King!

Because HE is Jesus.
